As a writer, I always believe in the power of words. It is a freedom of speech, expression and education, and creative writing plays a crucial role in these ways of communication.

Creative writing is the most convincing way to articulate things. It is used everywhere, including in news articles, novels, blogs, scriptwriting, emails, education, marketing, audio content, poetry, podcasts, and social media. The list is endless nowadays.

Creative writing has broadened its reach with the evolving world.

Creative writing inspires stories through words, media, and expression.

In this era, people have AI tools, Google, Microsoft, and countless online media like websites, social networks, and numerous Apps, so they have all information at their fingertips. People need content instantly to learn and evolve. It makes creative writing more essential and impactful.

The art of writing attracts readers in infinite ways. It can be used to entertain. To provide knowledge. It also works if you are trying to connect emotionally with readers. It wholly works through the heart and imagination. It works everywhere.

How do you define creative writing?

What is Creative Writing?

The definition of creative writing may vary by experience, perspective and knowledge. I see it as a writing pattern that goes beyond the boundaries of technical forms. It is a way of expression where emotions meet words and imagination meets storytelling.

It defines thoughts in a more innovative, humble and believing way. It gives a strong foundation to ideas that work positively.

Creative writing gives freedom to develop their voice. It enhances the power of a writer to create more inventive fictional characters, plots, ideas, articles, stories, and educative material that connect with the reader’s heart and mind.

It is not a universal definition, nor did I read it somewhere in a book or website. I’ve developed it through experience and learning.

My author and screenwriting world mentors have taught me a common thing: “Choosing to be a writer is not easy. It is a alone job. People will Judge. Do not question your strengths and words. Do Introspection and fight with your inner demons. Your job is to write a magnum opus work, not reply verbally.”

I believe in my mentor’s words because I followed them. Every writer has a unique way of expressing thoughts. They have their tone, rhythm, style, observations, learnings, etc. Creative writing gives them a medium to articulate their imagination. I accept that a writer can put the soul in dead ones by using creative writing. Metaphors, symbols, and imagery help widely to convey creativity through words.

Creative writing transforms illogical ideas into something logical and makes logical concepts more believable when used effectively. People start believing in fiction and connect with them emotionally. Readers trust different content and respond. Creative writing is a need of today, and it is the responsibility of a writer to create impactful and acknowledging content.

Let’s dive into the ocean of the writing world and go deeper. Let’s recognise how profound and expansive the roots of creative writing are.

Have you ever read historical and cultural books and records? Have you noticed how creative writing plays a vital role in their preservation?

Ancient scriptures, such as Shrimad Bhagwad Geeta and Shrimad Bhagavatam by MahaRishi Ved Vyasa, Mahabharata by MahaRishi Ved Vyas, Ramayan by Valmiki, Arthshatra by Chanakya, the four Vedas, many Upanishads and Puranas, are present in the world, educating people for thousands of years.

The beauty of these ancient scriptures lies in their words, factual details, and storytelling. They crafted words so beautifully that writers can learn considerable things from them.

These scriptures not only inspire and educate but also teach about creative writing. You will not get a single offensive word in them. They consider those words to convey the truth that sounds effective and agreeable. They pleasantly describe those topics that we feel uncomfortable talking about and sharing.

Don’t think, the scriptures have the written definition, techniques and vocabulary of writing. Their way of storytelling is incredible. For years, these scriptures have been the foundation of conviction and credibility.

What else does a writer want for their words? Their words impact millions of lives and inspire people to live a healthy and wealthy life.

A writer needs to learn everything because learning is knowledge, and creating words is our job. Taking a great example always leads us to a great path.

Let’s come to the middle of the ocean of the writing world.

Various historical books like Train to Pakistan by Kushwant Singh, Revolutionaries: The Other Story of How India Won Its Freedom by Sanjeev Sanyal, Guns, Germs, and Steel by Jared Diamond, and The Second World War by Winston Churchill showcase believable storytelling. They’ve used the power of words to speak the truth about our history. Don’t miss reading them.

Some popular novels of distinct genres, including Beloved by Toni Morrison, Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, 400 Days by Chetan Bhagat, Chandrakanta by Devaki Nandan Khatri,  The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien, Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling, Shiva Trilogy by Amish Tripathi, The Palace of Illusions by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni and infinite incredible creative writings are available that inspired with their crafts, characters and storytelling.

Books like One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Secrets by Rhonda Byrne, Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind by Yuval Noah Harari, The Anatomy of Story by John Truby, Psychology of Money by Morgan Housel, A Monk Who Sold His Ferrari by Robin Sharma, Eat That Frog! by Brian Tracy, and Think Like a Monk by Jay Shetty, grabs the place of bestsellers because of their potential stories and storytelling.

Let’s come and see infinite TV commercials, Advertisements, OTT content, Writing Apps, and Audio Story Apps running through their creative writing.

Epic shows like the Mahabharata and the Ramayana have won the hearts of the world.

Movies like Everything Everywhere All at Once, Bahubali, Drishyam, Forest Gump, Marvel movies, Jaws, All We Imagine as Light, Lagaan, The Godfather, Pather Panchali, Aamis, Inception, etc. define the power of creative writing. These are fiction, but creative writing makes them believable.

Iconic OTT shows, including Friends, Big Bang Theory, Money Heist, Suzhal, Sacred Games, Family Man, Adolescence, Squid Games, etc. They all show the impacts of creative writing.

These stories not only provide gripping experiences for viewers but also take them on another journey. They create an atmosphere where viewers become emotionally attached.

Still, I left the portion of Audio stories, Writing Apps, short stories, and Ads. The more I write, I feel like it is just a gist.

The market for all the previously mentioned platforms is continuously growing and has transformed into a billion-dollar industry. They all require skilled storytellers, notable writers, and compelling narratives, which all stem from impactful creative writing.

Writers, don’t waste your valuable time just thinking about your ideas. The worth of your thoughts becomes apparent only when they are expressed in words.
